Presentation topic: "Unlearning."
Our speaker: Jack Uldrich, Global futurist and author, jumpthecurve.net
The pace of technological change is accelerating. Today’s organizations are living in a world where “constant change is the only constant.” New advances in biotechnology, nanotechnology, and information technology are bringing forth exciting and unexpected discoveries every day, while the expansive and growing power of the Internet, social networking and the open-source movement are fueling the fires which threaten to consume much of today’s existing business landscape.
Life-long learning will obviously be more essential than ever in this chaotic and churning environment; but often lost in this new emerging reality of exponential change is the fact that before an organization can seize tomorrow’s opportunities it must first unlearn old, obsolete knowledge as well as unlearn the old ways of doing business.
In this fascinating, informative, entertaining, interactive and enlightening presentation, noted global futurist and best-selling author, Jack Uldrich – who has been hailed by BusinessWeek as “America’s Chief Unlearning Officer -- will not only explain why unlearning is a critical skill for a company or an organization’s employees, he will also demonstrate how unlearning can help:
- Successfully navigate a future where the pace of scientific and technological knowledge is doubling every seven years;
- Prepare for competition that doesn’t yet exist; and
- Seize opportunities which are, today, only on the periphery of their imagination.

Congratulations to Danielle Sagstetter!
Last year, Elliot Masie spoke with PACT about the importance of leveraging the Next Generation’s unique skill sets. We have taken that to heart and partnered to offer a Full Scholarship to Learning 2010 for one PACT member that met specific criteria. Elliot’s 30 Under Thirty program is aimed at developing and spotlighting these individuals as Learning Leaders. As a delegate of PACT, Danielle will attend special sessions with keynote speakers and thought leaders during the conference, and receive coaching from the hosts of the Learning Leadership Academy, Elliott Masie and Nigel Paine. She’ll also take on key roles at the conference, including facilitating small and/or large group sessions.
“Excited doesn’t seem to capture how I feel about this opportunity. I’m invigorated and simply grateful to be a part of an industry and an organization that invests in its Gen Y’ers.” Danielle Sagstetter

From the PACT Board of Directors |
"It's not what you know, it's who you know"
by Amy Scherer, Communications Chair
I've made that statement to myself and anyone who was listening many times over the years.
Just recently, I was struggling and frustrated trying to get the toolbar I built in my RoboHelp project to publish correctly. No matter what I tried, I just could not get it to look the way I wanted it to.
I expressed my frustration to a graphics designer on my team and after showing her a few things, she knew exactly what needed to be done and with no more than a quick "tweak" of my image she had everything fixed. And she doesn't even know a thing about RoboHelp!
It's not what you know, it's who you know.
Asking for help can be humbling
As an instructor, we're expected to know everything. Provide answers to student questions "on the fly" with confidence and without error. Luckily, as social media and user communities have grown, the age of one person knowing all the answers isn't as expected any more. If you don't know the answer, you know someone who does. Just tap into your tribe of experts or share a link to an on-line resource for the answer.
